YMCA Statement on Commonwealth Redress

Today, the Victorian and NSW Governments have formally indicated that they will opt-in to the Commonwealth Redress Scheme.

This will mean that as of the 1st July 2018 (subject to the passing of legislation) that survivors of child sexual abuse in Commonwealth, Victorian or NSW Government-run institutions may be eligible to apply for redress.

Further information can be found at www.dss.gov.au/redress or the National Redress Information Line on 1800 146 713.

The YMCA operates in all states and territories across Australia and to ensure we maintain national consistency in our support for survivors, we will consider our position in relation to the Commonwealth Scheme when all states and territories have opted in to the Scheme.
