Voices of young people starting to be heard

The YMCA is pleased the voices of young Australians have been heard, with today’s Labor Party announcement of a commitment to refund a national youth peak body, the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition (AYAC), and to reinstate a Federal Minister for Youth, if elected.

The Y has been providing a platform for young voices to be heard and advocating for a Federal Minister for Young People, so we welcome this news and hope all parties will take note.

With more young voters enrolled to vote than ever before, and young people set to inherit the future, it’s time for politicians of all persuasions to ensure they take the issues and needs of young people seriously.  We certainly do.
