I read in the Guardian yesterday “The pain and terror of these bushfires cannot be held in a single human heart.” In many different ways we acknowledge we are all effected by the bushfire crisis. As we all deal with feelings of sorrow, heartbreak, frustration, love, anger, rage and deep deep sadness.
Thank you to our incredible Y people who are directly around the fire danger areas (NSW, ACT & Vic), who have responded quickly, and have ensured that people are safe and have been evacuated and supported where needed.
We are so grateful and proud for the brave souls who have put themselves in harm’s way to protect us all. Thank goodness for our firefighters, our volunteers, our animal rescue champions and all those who are pitching in to do what they can. Contained in this newsletter you will see how many things are getting done by the Y around the nation and there is also some important information on Bushfire insurance.
We are currently directing people to emergency fundraising appeals:
Red Cross; Salvation Army; NSW Rural Fire Service; CFA Victoria; WIRES (NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue & Education Service); Wildlife Victoria: Port Macquarie Koala Hospital.
Take care and we pray that all of our communities stay safe.
