YMCA Australia CEO Sleeping Rough

YMCA Australia CEO, Ron Mell has announced his involvement in the annual Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout on Thursday 21 June 2012.

Braving
the elements, Ron will experience homelessness for one night to help raise money and awareness of homeless people in Australia.

“I was inspired with my experience participating in last year’s Sleepout; then as CEO of YMCA Perth and am thrilled to support this year’s event,” Mr Mell said.

“YMCA’s mission is about providing opportunity for all and invariably the Y carries out its mission through partnering and supporting others. Having the chance to support St Vincent de Paul Society through their Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout appeal is a great opportunity for me to do that, both at a personal level and as a representative of the YMCA Movement,” Mr Mell said.

The event was created to highlight the plight of homelessness in Australia by challenging business and community leaders to experience homelessness first-hand.

Nationally there are approximately 105,000 men, women and children who sleep out across Australia each night.

The Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout takes place in every capital city across Australia on Thursday 21 June 2012.

YMCA Canberra CEO, Jenny McCombe will also be participating in the CEO Sleepout in Canberra.
