Who We Are
The YMCA in Australia is made up of 18 Member Associations. We are a united Movement across Australia, dedicated to turning our belief in the power of inspired young people into reality. We are influenced by our global mission to provide opportunities for all to grow in body, mind and spirit based on Christian values. We run financially sustainable robust social enterprises (businesses), based in community, to provide the required resources, brand strength and community connections needed to achieve our mission. We operate to a shared framework and set of principles across Australia, while ensuring each Association has latitude to make choices that enable greatest impact in their local communities.
YMCAs provide a wide range of programs and services in over 500 communities across Australia, from the Top End to Tassie and East to West, with operations also right in our nation's centre and other rural and remote communities. Each year we have over 28 million participations. The majority of these are in the healthy living space – with 18 million participations in our health clubs. We have over 14,000 staff across the country and around 2,000 volunteers. Our youth specific programs have over 1 million participations, and we have over 3 million participations in our children's services including kindergartens, early learning centres, outside school hours care and vacation care.
