The YMCA is all about empowering young people. We provide safe spaces and a place of belonging. Local YMCAs across Australia also provide a range of community initiatives to respond directly to their community needs.
For example, the YMCA Bridge Project in Victoria is an innovative program in Victoria that connects young people leaving youth justice centres with employment and mentoring on their release.
YMCA Breakfast Clubs – hosted by Bendigo and Brisbane YMCAs, help school children in disadvantaged communities get their days off to a healthy start, through local YMCA Breakfast clubs run by volunteers.
Several YMCAs also work with Indigenous communities across Australia running a range of programs in partnership with their local Indigenous communities, responding to their specific needs.
Contact your local YMCA to find out more about what it offers to your local community, and how you can get involved.
