Y Australia Publishes Community Impact Report

December 10, 2024 The Y in Australia

The Y Australia is proud to release its 2024 Community Impact Report today. Celebrating another year of creating change in our communities, we’re pleased to announce that collectively we’ve had almost 23,000,000 participations in programs and services with a collective turnover of over $650,000,000.

In our progress toward Vision 2030, our impact across each of our strategic pillars has been profound. Here’s a sneak peek into some of the work our Y’s are doing to progress Meaningful Work, Community Wellbeing, a Sustainable Planet and a Just World.

In our goal to create Meaningful Work opportunities for more Australians, the Y Northern Territory is making an impact through its Remote Pools Program – providing meaningful work for remote Indigenous communities.

The community led program improves the health and vitality of First Nations communities, and not only ensures communities have access to recreation and health services but gives locals the opportunity to work locally. Opportunities for training, mentoring and building community mean that this work is meaningful.

As part of our work to strengthen Community Wellbeing, Y Queensland has continued to deliver its Community Housing program. The service provides quality, affordable housing that is close to community services.

For vulnerable Queenslanders – those experiencing homelessness, financial insecurity or domestic violence – affordable, reliable housing strongly contributes to the sense of wellbeing of those in need, in their local community.

In our quest to create a Just World, we’re growing in our support of Australians with a disability, with over 74,000 participations in our access and inclusion programs.

For children and young people at Y Geelong, this means a dedicated space for those experiencing sensory disruption. Anyone feeling overwhelmed or needing extra space and quiet can relax in the Sensory Pod at Y Geelong. The Pod helps children and young people with different needs feel included and comfortable.

Lastly, but not least, Y’s are making progress toward a Sustainable Planet. Through their Bush Kinder program, Y Canberra have taken steps to protect the planet, connecting children with their environment and participating in clean up days in their local community.

It’s stories like these that are further proof that one person, one centre and one Y can make a difference.

Y Associations from across Australia have and continue to deliver hundreds of services and programs in every corner of the country, delivering impact everywhere we are.

The lives we change, the communities we improve and the impact we have is incredible.

It’s why we’re so proud to publish the 2024 Community Impact Report and celebrate our Movement’s impact.
