Swimming

At the Y, we take pride in each stage of teaching people to swim. From basic water safety, to developing confidence, swimming strokes techniques and skill development, we all know that swimming lessons are a great life-skill.

Seeing children splash around, develop confidence in the water, have fun, master strokes, get to the next level swimming certificate, and compete at all levels is what it is all about for us!

Children of all ages are keen learners, particularly during their early years (0-5), so we encourage children to learn to swim at a young age, with the first three to five years encouraged for learning and development, if possible.

We have heard from young people that swimming is a level playing field for children and young people with disabilities – and so we love to offer all-ability programs to make sure that people with all abilities feel that they belong at the Y.

And we’re also so proud that many swimmers who trained at our Centres, have represented, or currently represent Australia at the Olympics!

The Y runs over 76 aquatic facilities including 50 outdoor pools.

We are passionate about water safety and teaching young people to swim, offering over 2 million swimming lessons across Australia per year.
