World YMCA Secretary General Carlos Sanvee shares his deep insights into the changing global landscape for young people, and how the YMCA needs to evolve too, in Melbourne, February 2019.
"We need to reinvent our work and our social model, and how we remain relevant to young people beyond occupying their time. We are all connect to one thing – young people – not what they do, but who they are. Carlos challenges us to look at the opportunities before us, as the world’s largest youth organization, and invites us all to work together globally, with the power of one.
"In a changing world, YMCA needs to change, too, to provide what young people really need. With the infotech and biotech revolution, we will find ourselves introduced to extremes. Where does that leave our young people?" Carlos said.
He challenges us to look at the opportunities before us, as the world’s largest youth organization. He also said that we have lot to be proud of.
"The YMCA began as a safe space, where young people felt they could belong. A safe space, an inspiring space, an enabling space." - Carlos Sanvee, Secretary General, World YMCA.
